Back pressure
— The pressure at which vapour is drawn into a compressor.

Back pressure gauge
— A gauge fitted to the low pressure side of a refrigeration system to indicate relative pressures above and below atmospheric pressure.

Back pressure regulator
— An automatic valve normally installed at the evaporator outlet and sensitive to the pressure at the valve inlet; by throttling the flow of the refrigerant, it prevents the evaporating pressure from falling below a predetermined value.
